Business Analyst (contract 6+ months)

Customer is looking to bring in a contract BA for a 6 month commitment, preferably with an option to extend or hire as part of the agreement.

The role is called a Business Analyst, but will have aspects of a System Analyst because of the technical nature of the role, and the fact that this person will be writing functional spec, dealing with XML, configuration files that drive exam delivery, etc. The successful candidate will have many years of BA experience, perhaps with some development experience in their background, and will have worked in complex technical environments in the past.

Job duties

* Elicit requirements by interviewing internal/external clients and SMEs in individual and group sessions to drive the design of features requested against our Java based delivery application.
* Write both high-level business requirements and low-level functional requirements documents including the creation of business process flows, software requirements, use cases, business rule documents, and user interface mockups.
* Work closely with both project managers and functional managers to manage and coordinate the requirements throughout the entire development lifecycle ensuring adherence to formal SDLC.

Required job skills

* Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
* Direct customer interface experience required (working with client directly on project tasks; managing client expectations).
* Bachelor's degree in a Business, Information Systems, Computer Science discipline or related applied experience required.
* Minimum of 5 years BA experience required.
* Must be well-organized and detail-oriented.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills required.
* Experience with usability and GUI design required.
* Some java development experience is a bonus.
